Hello subscribers, hope you had an amazing week! Read on for the update!
High-level update:
No new announcements from Chia the company this week, but that’s to be expected after so many new developments over the last few weeks, and as the company gears up for their first hackathon.
While Chia was heads-down building, the community was thriving. More CATs were launched. More NFT projects were announced. We also held our first ever event for the San Francisco Chia Club, where over 50 people, including members of the Chia team, joined us to geek out.
Because the community was driving much of the narrative this week, that’s the topic I want to dive into tonight. As we witnessed at the SFCC event, the Chia community is made up of a diverse set of people who share the common bonds of passion, intelligence, and curiosity. We were blown away at the caliber of attendees.
This signals an especially bright future for Chia because the best projects have strong organic engagement well beyond efforts by the core team. Hopefully it’s obvious, but for Chia to become what we all believe it will become, it’s going to take our help. Chia is all hands on deck building amazing technology, landing marquee deals, coordinating developer engagement, and more. This is great and I’m sure it will bear fruit, but my hope is that even those who aren’t developing on Chia will still engage in the ecosystem. Just because there’s a funded development team behind Chia, this doesn’t mean you should just buy Chia and sit back.
I’d encourage people to think about Bitcoin in the early days, and consider ourselves to be in similar position. Early bitcoiners got involved in countless ways. I remember working with Balaji at a16z in 2014 and watching him orange pill anyone he could. He’d give a succinct pitch while having them download a wallet so he could give them a few dollars in BTC (I was one of his subjects). Many others did this, as well, and I believe this and similar efforts had a tremendous impact on Bitcoin spreading as it did.
So consider this a call to action. Please get involved! Even if you can’t build on Chia, there are plenty of constructive ways to help. Here are a few ideas:
Start or join a Chia club.
Help friends get set up with a farm.
Pay friends back with Chia.
Educate people, practice the pitch, get random people to download Nucle and give them small amounts of Chia.
Accept Chia at your business, even if it currently adds friction.
Come up with ideas and post them to social media, Keybase, or Reddit.
Use and give feedback to Chia ecosystem projects.
Offer files are live. NFTs are coming soon. Data Layer is coming soon. This is the time we’ve been waiting for, and every little bit helps. Let’s go!

Other relevant Chia news:
Chia’s price has performed relatively better than many other projects over the last week, leading to its coinmarketcap ranking jumping to #189 from the mid 200s. Of course, this only includes tradeable float and not the prefarm, so it’s hard to compare to many of the other projects that sold coins to investors and have a less aggressive float inflation schedule.
Bram posted a cool Twitter thread on possible future Chia extensions. [more]
Capital.com posted an article on green cryptos and included Chia, which is refreshing given how many of these articles get posted omitting the most important project. [more]
Now the most important part: offers!!!
We have 179 subscribers now, an increase of 31 over last week. We’re still including 0.005 $XCH per new subscriber (for now) so this means that we’re adding an offer file for 0.155 $XCH. Having some more fun with it this week, so you might notice a couple of differences :-)
Ready. Set. Go!
