XCHWeekly: Week of 1/31/22
Building things people will use
Hello subscribers, hope you had a great week! From now on, we won’t be posting about the newsletter on social media until after the included offer files have been accepted, so make sure you’ve signed up to ensure you have a shot.
Chia keeps building, sprout by sprout. This week, the Chia team launched v2.0 of the whitepaper, held a dev challenge and conducted an AMA. There were a few ecosystem developments noted below (we likely missed some). Other than that, it was a relatively quiet week.
We are heads-down building and our hope is that there are many others like us. In that vein, now that CATs and offer files have launched, and there are things to build and use, it seems like a good time to start tracking ecosystem progress. We think this will be helpful for us and others in determining what to build and when, since certain projects may rely on new ecosystem entrants and/or volume, while others will aid in advancing those metrics.
To track the ecosystem, we’ve added a “Chia stats” section below where we’ll begin tracking metrics that we think will be helpful in gauging the volume of new people entering the Chia ecosystem. We’ll be adjusting this over time, so feel free to provide feedback. Just keep in mind metrics need to be consistent and easily trackable.

Chia (the company) news:
Chia released their long awaited Whitepaper v2.0. No breaking news included, but it reads well and provides a good overview of how Chia has executed to date. This will be a good reference for those new to Chia. Chris at The Chia Plot wrote a good summary of it. [more]
Chia held their Chialisp developer challenge on Clovyr. Sounds like we’ll have to wait two weeks before we get filled in on details and results.
Chia hosted an AMA on Friday. No major updates, but it was good to hear from the team. [more]
Goby.app released v0.0.4 of their chrome wallet, adding a history tab and CAT support. [more]
Stably seems to have resolved their issues, with Keybase users saying their transactions have processed and no new complaints have been posted.
Offerpool.io arrived as a web3 version of Offerbin.
The Space Alien NFT project changed their images from the Spaceballs alien to a generic alien PFP image. TBD on what happens to those who expected the initial art that was advertised. This highlights one of the risks in purchasing tokens that can later be redeemed for NFTs.
A new NFT project called Ecopunks launched, which resembles cryptopunks but with some Chia styling. Note they’re selling tokens which can be redeemed later. 100 will be sold, and each token escalates in price. [more]
Other relevant Chia news:
Wormhole, a cross chain bridge, got hacked for ~$300m in ETH that was backing Solana-based WETH. This is yet another example of why a more secure language like Chialisp is a better choice for high value assets. [more]
It was interesting to see Chia keep a blurb in their whitepaper about Coinbase listing Chia on a shortlist of 17 coins they were considering supporting at some point. Not sure how that’s relevant now (maybe a sign?!), but for fun we looked into which coins from this list have been supported by Coinbase to date. Here are the results:
Listed: Solana, Avalanche, Celo, Dfinity, Filecoin, Polkadot, Orchid.
Not listed: Chia, Mina (fka coda), Handshake, Kadena, MobileCoin, NEAR, Nervos, Oasis, Spacemesh (not trading), Telegram (not trading).
Now the most important part: offers!!!
We have 208 subscribers now, an increase of 29 over last week. We’re still including 0.005 $XCH per new subscriber (for now) so this means that we’re adding offer files for 0.145 $XCH (we’ve rounded up to 0.15 $XCH).
Click the “share” button below to help us expand our reach and increase the reward in next week’s issue!
Here are the offers. Go!
